ACTO is a program that allows caregivers to leave their loved ones in a safe, friendly environment so they can attend to other matters. For those suffering from Alzheimer’s or related dementia disorders, they provide music, arts and crafts, and exercise based activities.  The services are available 3 days a week, 5 hours a day. Park Ave UMC has graciously donated space to this private non-profit organization.  Serves Brooks, Berrien, Echols, Lanier, and Lowndes counties.

The Red Cross provides emergency shelter and mass care to natural disaster victims.  They provide a wide range of services for military personnel, veterans and their families, as well as assisting families who have lost everything due to a fire.  The ARC does training in First Aid, Water Safety, CPR and AIDS Education.  Serves Brooks,  Echols, Lanier & Lowndes Counties.

America’s Second Harvest of South Georgia receives donations of food and grocery items from over 300 national food manufactures and distributors in the United States. The Food Bank distributes over 6 million pounds of food to over 350 member charities in South Georgia each year. America’s Second Harvest of South Georgia operates the Kids Café program, Manna Truck, Reclaim Program, Volunteer Center, and Rescue Valdosta.  Serves Atkinson, Brooks, Berrien, Cook, Clinch, Echols, Thomas, Lowndes, Lanier, Ware.

Big Brothers Big Sisters pairs volunteers with children in need of a positive adult role model through their two mentoring programs. In the traditional community-based program, volunteers spend 2-4 hours per week with a child engaging in activities of common interest in the local community. Volunteers in the school-based program, Buddies in School, spend one hour per week with a child at their school during the regular school day.  Serves Berrien, Brooks, Echols, Lanier and Lowndes Counties.

LAMP is a caring community of faith, ministering to the homeless and indigent.  LAMP provides assistance to more than 10,000 people each year— that’s help for more than 10% of county residents, through four departments. These are: Helpers Unlimited (emergency assistance to those in need with food, clothing, rental, utilities & transportation assistance); Health Care (medical prescriptions, dental and eye care);  Emergency Housing (shorter-stay -30 days - Shelter for men women & children);  and Transitional Housing (a longer stay program of up to 24 months of residence and 6 months of after-care services).  All activities and programs of LAMP’s four departments give the homeless and indigent “a hand up” in their time of need.  Serves Lowndes County.

RSVP assists individuals age 55 and older in finding enriching and meaningful volunteer jobs that serve critical needs in local communities. RSVP volunteers can serve in any nonprofit or health care organization. RSVP volunteers promote literacy by tutoring and mentoring children and adults, assisting in media centers, libraries, ESOL programs, and school events. RSVP volunteers care for the aging and disabled by providing daily phone calls, friendly visits and activities, transportation, and individual help with applying for assistance programs. "The Center" offers educational programs which include the Off Campus Discipline Education Skills Training for Suspended Youth Program (ODESSY); Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD )Education; Life skills training; Job skills training; and tutorial help. We offer after-school and summer programs for children ages 5-16. We also offer indoor and outdoor recreational programs such as swimming instruction, ping-pong, basketball, football and various arts & crafts.
