The Day of Caring is
an event that will mobilize hundreds of people in Lowndes County to help
stop critical social problems from growing through a day of mentoring.
Participants will be paired up with children from United Way funded
agencies and children who would benefit from a day of mentoring. This
project is such an appropriate one for this year’s campaign theme -
"Walk A Mile In Their Shoes." The Day of Caring will kick off the
2006-07 United Way Campaign and make a difference in the eyes of the
children.

Employees from area
businesses will be paired up one-on-one with these special children
8:45 am Volunteers
gather at Wild Adventures and
officially kick off
the Campaign
10:00 am Volunteers
are matched with a Child; Have fun with their child in the park
Noon-ish Volunteers
and Children share Lunch together
2:00 pm Children load
Buses back to their Schools
Participants will get
hands-on experience in volunteer efforts spending time with kids. Day of
Caring will also give participants an opportunity to hear about the many
youth agencies served by the United Way.
