Evelyn And Pope Langdale, Campaign Chairs
Evelyn and Pope not only love this community,
but love giving back to the community, and helping encourage others
to give back as well. They both believe that the true measure of
the spirit of a city is its citizen’ willingness to help those in
need of assistance, and their dedication of time, effort, and
resources to those who are less fortunate, or for whom some life
changing event has caused a crisis in their family. Valdosta and
Lowndes County is privileged to have so many people who have been
willing to dedicate themselves to the better good of all who live
here, and they are proud to join that effort on behalf of the United
Way as this year’s campaign chairmen.
Both Pope and Evelyn, individually have been
actively involved in community service since relocating from Atlanta
in 1995. Evelyn served on the United Way Board and chaired Day of
Caring three years between 1995 and 2000. She has also served on
the Boards of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Valdosta Technical
College Foundation, the Valdosta Junior Service League, and served
as Program Chair for Leadership Georgia. She is an incoming Board
member of the South Georgia Medical Center Foundation.
Pope has been serving on the United Way Board,
and its Executive Committee since 2001. He has been overseeing the
allocation of all funds raised by previous campaigns, and makes sure
that every dollar raised goes to benefit those that the United Way
seeks to serve. He has also been involved in the Lowndes Education
Improvement Foundation (“LEIF”), helping to improve the education of
our youth, and previously served on the board of directors of the
YMCA. He is also a member of the Lawyers Foundation of Georgia, the
charitable arm of the State Bar of Georgia.
Pope and Evelyn look forward to working with all of the volunteers,
individual contributors, and businesses that make the United Way the
local success that it is every year for those that it helps. We
have one of the strongest and best organized United Ways in the
State, and what better way to showcase “The City without Limits”
than through the support of the most visible charitable
organization. Please join us this year as we once again redirect
our hearts to all of those that need us the most.
