2024 Fall Day of Caring

October 18, 2024

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, GVUW decided to change the Day of Caring to be focused on hurricane recovery. â€‹We partnered with Second Harvest of South Georgia to fill food boxes to help feed those who have suffered damages from the storm.

Our South Georgia community is strong and we can only recover if we work together!

United Way Worldwide President and CEO, Angela F. Williams Visits GVUW for the Day of Caring

DSC_1399.JPG

After seeing the damages Hurricane Helene and Milton did to communities in Georgia, United Way Worldwide President and CEO, Angela F. Williams, and her team knew they needed to get their boots on the ground and show their support.

The Greater Valdosta United Way was honored to have Angela not just make an appearance at our Day of Caring (DOC), but engage with our volunteers and show that our community has the support needed to recover.

"United Way stands with you for the long haul. We will continue to do everything in our power to ensure you have the resources needed to rebuild and recover," said Williams on her visit to South Georgia.

We thank Angela and her team for taking the time out of their busy schedules to come visit GVUW and show their support for our organization and our efforts to rebuild after the devastation Hurricane Helene brought to our community.
